Open letter to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton

Dear Mr Obama & Mrs Clinton,

The two of you have been put in charge of a tremendous country. A country that is at the forefront of many innovations in recent history. Your citizens continuously demonstrate an ability to invent, progress and find solutions to every-day issues like few others. Their inquiring minds have brought us modern day essentials like electricity, motor-vehicles and even the Internet.

But then, this innovation has also brought about a horrifying war machine never before witnessed in history. With huge power comes huge responsibilities. And I am sad to conclude, that the people in charge of this very dangerous machine are failing horribly. I was shocked to learn of the family that had their parents gunned down in front of six children at a US army checkpoint in Iraq. And there are many, many, other stories like this revealed, most candidly, in the wake of the wikileaks iraq files revelations. Ordinary people, like you and I, with the same red blood running in our veins, being butchered down, most mercilessly and candidly in a style reminiscent to playing a playstation game.

My country, South Africa, has seen a marvelous transformation from a horrible past, when our people were put through similar cruelties. I want to tell you, that it is not impossible, to transform your country, to a position of respect and prestige that you once were. It only takes people with the courage to stand up for justice, humanity and truth.

Unfortunately, if you don't do this, like our previous Apartheid regime soon found out, you will only trap yourselves into a corner, and then it will be too late. Oppression and injustice never lasts. We tend to forget, that God almighty, is witness to every one of our actions. And even if we escape a war crimes tribunal in this world, theres no escaping the day when we all have to give account to Him.

So, I call you, to a vast, everlasting success in the next life. Out of the narrowness and fleeting world that you all are fighting over in this world. How long are you going to be walking the surface of this earth? How many presidents before you have come and gone. In a few years time, your term will be over. Do you want to fade into anonymity or be someone like Nelson Mandela, who will linger in the memories of generations to come.

Welcome to Bilderberg

Carbon Tax ? September 2010 saw carbon tax introduced here in S.Africa. Just today, I was having a conversation with Wendy, our kitchen lady, who tells me that she wouldn't even vote. Why? I ask her. She says what's the use.. we have to pay for plastic bags, we have to pay this tax and that tax..for what ?? so we continue to be subjugated. Tell me something..does anyone know where these plethora of new taxes are going to? Part of me wanted to tell her..stop being so negative! We need carbon tax to stop global warming etc etc. HA!

What a sham. Like Obama's "yes we can!" Before I continue, please watch this video on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAaQNACwaLw . You can thank me later.

This is one of the reasons, unlike most people, something inside me wants to support this man Julius Malema. People can call him the ultimate idiot or whatever, but why should we have to assure the Queen that we're not going to make any radical economic changes in the country, as Zuma did. Why should we continue to allow our resources to be raped by Anglo-American? I mean wake up people! These people hoodwink us right under our noses and we just lap up more of the drivel they serve us. I say Viva Comrade Julius Viva. I say we need leaders who actually can think for themselves. Not the puppets we seem to be surrounded by. I say Viva Hugo Chavez. Trust me guys...in a few years, all will be clear. Welcome to Bilderberg.

What's the solution to our current impending disaster? Back to basics. Back to good wholesome family life. Back to getting in touch with nature, growing our own food, saying no to every new gadget the corporate world serves us. Read the true scriptures. Read good literature. Read the Quraan. I'm sure you must have wondered several times, as I certainly did, why "Interest" has so emphatically been outlawed and reviled in the Quraan. Well, in today's times, it is becoming ever so clear. That's the miracle of true scriptures. True word of God. And herein lies our salvation.

Napalm Diaries

It's 22:55 and my eyes are feeling heavy...

I am busy reading Arundhati Roy's " The ordinary Person's guide to Empire "

Heres a couple of excerpts which I want to share...

We sure are pleased with those backroom boys at Dow. The original product wasn't so hot - if the gooks were quick they could scrape it off.So the boys started adding polystyrene - now it sticks like shit to a blanket. But then if the gooks jumped under water it stopped burning, so they started adding Willie Peter [white phosphorous] so's to make it burn better. It will even burn under water now.  American Pilot

Destruction of locks and dams - however if handled right - might...offer promise. Such destruction does not kill or drown people. By shallow flooding the rice, it leads after time to widespread starvation.( more than a million?) unless food is provided.  Declassified Pentagon Papers

I'm only quarter through this book, and yet i'm already feeling sick. Sick of where this world is heading to. What lengths a few fat cats in the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, et al are going through to satisfy their unquenchable thirst for wealth.

The silver lining is the sobering reminder that history has seen off even bigger buffoons than the current crop. The Quran talks of Nimrood the King who's treasures were so vast that it took an army of people just to carry the keys to this treasure. Did he leave an honourable legacy behind? What about the people of A'ad. Are these suit clad pot bellies more powerful than them ? Allah had given them such strength that they would carve their dwellings out of the mountains with their bare hands. All it took was a divine wind to put an end to their misconceptions.

In our country there was the Apartheid regime. Where are they now ? Where is the airport that used to be proudly known as Jan Smuts. A few years on, people will be saying Jan WHO?

In the hands of the  Almighty, a 100 years could just as well be a single second. Sooner or later every tyrant is going to meet his Moses. And the cracks are already beginning to show. The all mighty capitalist system is struggling to keep itself from imploding.

Quick, we better grab our popcorn and front row seats...

France & the Burka

By now, everyone has probably heard of France voting to pass the law banning the veil in public places.

I've been hearing a lot of arguments defending this ban - one councilor, involved in the drafting of this legislation, saying that in centuries up to know, there has been no evidence of the French covering their faces. So why should there be now. Another French woman argued that this will help the Muslim females integrate fully into French society.

My question is this... In an age where 2 people of the same sex, are given rights to marriage each other in the name of freedom of choice, is a lady choosing to cover her face from the public, a bigger threat to society than this ?

A person can fight for her right to go naked at a beach, but she can't be afforded this same right to cover it. This begs to ask the question - what exactly are the French afraid of? Is it maybe that their own women might be attracted to the honour and respect the hijab gave their Muslim counterparts?

Whatever their motives behind this are, all it will achieve is to galvanize the Muslim community in their cause. As was the case with Yvonne Ridley, who was captured by the Taliban in 2001 - And accepted Islam after her release. One of the key reasons being the respect they afforded her as a female. Contrast this to the treatment meted out to Aafia Siddiqui in American prisons. Can a ball be kept under water for long ?

My message to our sisters in France is this. Almighty Allah says in the Quran referring to Asiyah, wife of Pharaoh.

" And Allah has set forth an example for those who believe: The wife of Pharaoh, when she said: "My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise, and save me from Pharaoh and his work, and save me from the people who are 'Zalimun'.  "

May the Almighty guide us.

Laduuuuma!

I couldn't resist a quickie post.

It's been a day of upsets in the 2010 world cup here in SA. Brazil out and Ghana cheated by Uruguay. I admit , I listened to the games on radio. Definitely not for the faint hearted. After all the smoke and dust has settled, I cannot help but ponder - is it really worth giving over our precious time, emotions and heart to a game ? What is it that gets us all so hooked onto it ?

I'm back from a 20 day trip with a tabligh group of 12. Life takes on a whole new meaning while on a trip like this. Time seems to stand still. One finds oneself setting goals like how much Quraan will be read today ; whether you can get to wake up for tahajjud ; getting to pray all your salaah with the first takbeer. It's beautiful. There were some new reverts to Islam in the group. They were sometimes nothing short of inspirational. One of them was a boy of about 16. He once walked back from his home to the nearest mosque a good few kilometers away, to look for his miswaak which he had dropped somewhere. He eventually did find it. I dont think Id honestly do the same, were I in his shoes.

I hate to sound morbid, but this time we have in our life, really is quite precious. I wonder how many of us are going to end up ruing the lost hours to futility or end up, like some of those youngsters, bringing some real value to our lives.

Shame on you Israel

Isn't it amazing how history seems to repeat itself. After WW1 - the victorious allies chose appeasement to avoid conflict with bully Germany. Poor Czechoslovakia was the sacrificial lamb to satisfy Hitler and keep his eyes off the others. This policy failed with disastrous consequences. And fast forward 70 years to 31 May 2010 - this time the bully is Israel. In an arrogant slap to the face, with tho whole world's attention on the Flotilla aid mission to Gaza, they showed that no blood will be spared in their defense of their apartheid state.  Almost mockingly, they seem to be saying - Yes we have, and will do again , so come stop us if you can.

History will tell, if we will fair differently to the allies appeasement with Hitler, or will we have leaders who are bold enough to stand up for all thats right.

Israel has just played their hand and its up to us to play next ...

Going out in Jamaat ( on a spiritual uplifment trip )

Alhumdulillah - With the grace of Almighty , I have recently made the intention of going out for few days with a Tabligh jamat. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about - It's basically joining a group of people on a trip to a chosen location. We stay in the Musjids ( Mosques) - moving from musjid to musjid usually within 3 days. During the stay - there are various programs one has to participate in, on a rotational basis. Arguably the most daunting being standing up in front to deliver a short talk. Nonetheless - since the 1st time I went out with a jamaat - during the millennium year - Its the one place, I have found to really experience that inner peace and connection with Almighty Allah.

Insha-Allah, I plan to leave on 7 June. And will try and keep this blog updated as it progresses. I request for your prayers that Allah grants us true sincerity and acceptance.

Zapiro the idiot

Notice something missing here ? For those who havnt been here before - I was one who featured Zapiro's cartoons occasionally - thinking he captured the political satire very well.

Well, I think poking fun at political situations cannot be equated with poking fun at something sacred to people - Like their prophets, like their religion. This is something that is integral to all of mankind. And is something that goes unspoken even in "so-called" uncivilized societies. But it seems that the 21st Century has ushered in more than just technological advances. One wonders whats next - it seems like theres no limits to the levels that the human race is willing to sink to.

Let's ponder on some saying of our Nabi ( Prophet , peace be on him).

Abu Hurairah (radiyallahu-an) narrates that Nabi (peace be on him) said: Give presents to one another, for a present removes hatred from the breast and a woman should not despise a gift from her neighbour even it be a portion of a goat's hoof. (narrated in Tirmidhi)

Abu Dhar ( radiyallahu-an ) narrates that Nabi (peace be on him)  said: None of you should consider any good deed insignificant ; if you are unable to perform any good deed then at least meet your brother cheerfully ( this is also a good deed). If you buy meat or cook in a pot, then increase its gravy and give some of it to your neighbour. (narrated in Tirmidhi)
 _______________________________________________

I challenge Zapiro - to produce a more beautiful teaching than our Prophet's. Our Prophet is far above anything you can conjure up. You do what you have to do. Just know that one day - every man has to give account for his actions.

Judge Goldstone - Barred from Bar-Mitzvah

Three Cheers for Judge Richard Goldstone of South Africa. You gotta admire this man. He was tasked with investigating the war crimes claims against Israel and Hamas during Israel's 2008 offensive in Gaza - Despite himself being a jew. After concluding in his report that Israel did indeed commit war crimes, he faced a mountain of criticism from his fellow Jews. Culminating in the Chief Rabbi of South Africa, banning Goldstone from attending his sons bar-mitzvah.

Porsche 911 Turbo PDK king of the quarter mile

One of my passions of course is ... cars. I was enthralled when I came across this article from IOL motoring, who tested a whole host of stock standard production cars in the famed quarter mile. On top was none other than the legend - Porsche 911 turbo PDK coming in at 11.4 seconds with the Nissan GT-R hot on its heals with an impressive 12.5 seconds. Here are the top 10 ...

The Service and Sacrifice of All American War Veterans is at stake.

(BAGRAM, Afghanistan) - Veterans Today Editors, Jeff Gates, Raja Mujtaba and I were in the AF-Pak region over the last couple of weeks. Jeff and I are Vietnam veterans, Raja a decorated combat veteran, tank commander, from the India/Pakistan war. We met dozens of Pakistani military, including nearly all of their highest ranking retired officers, from Admiral Sirohey, Chairman of their Joint Chiefs of Staff to General Alsam Beg, Head of the Army to Lt. General Hamid Gul, former head of the ISI. In our party were our other Veterans Today contributors, BG Asif Haroon Raja and BG Raza Ali, of “Charlie Wilson’s War” fame.
Today, I received an email from Admiral Sirohey. His office is lined with memorabilia from a long career of service, service as an ally and friend of the United States. Sirohey and the rest were America’s most stalwart allies during the Cold War. These were the real allies that helped us bring about the downfall of the Soviet Union.  I was honoured to be among them.
Today Admiral Sirohey is scheduled to attend a rally protesting the illegal kidnapping, brutalizing and conviction of Dr. Affia Siddiqui. America’s best friends in Asia, the finest soldiers in the world are horrified at what we have done.
Can it be that bad?

The Bush administration, when it saw its “War on Terror” wasn’t getting enough suspects, hired drug cartel members and criminal elements to kidnap innocent civilians to fill our secret prisons.
Yes, we actually did this.

In this case, we kidnapped a mother with 3 children, tortured her for years, murdered a small child and then charged her with attempting to murder her captors after years in a secret prison on Bagram Air Force Base.
Every soldier on that base; everyone who has served there has to live with the dishonour of this act until something is done.
Remember when America, after World War II, painted the people of Germany with the stain of guilt for not knowing about the death camps? Tell me what is different here?

We didn’t know that druglords and gangsters were stealing people off the street to fill our prisons with “terror suspects” so Bush/Ashcroft and Cheney could crow about their successes? If you didn’t know before, this is what all the secret “torture memos” were all about, not real terrorists, but innocent people we “bought” as though we were slave runners of old.
A few years after we bought our phony terror suspects, tortured, raped and brutalized them, most were released.
They had committed no crime other than to be standing on the wrong dark street corner when the druglords working for Bush were out hunting “meat” for America’s gulags.

Dr. Aafia had to be convicted, had to be jailed and silenced.

The crimes against her and her children were so heinous, only a kangaroo court in America, a country whose news is orchestrated by the Islam hating MSM/Corporate media and powerful Israeli/AIPAC lobby, would have the audacity to bring her to trial...
....I can talk of honour or service but all people see is babies and their mothers, shot to death, lining the bottom of a ditch.
It is a matter of honour....
...Our silence strips our honour away.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was not a terrorist. The newspapers lied, we all know why. Either she is guilty or we all are. Better to destroy her than to arrest those guilty of real crimes, arrest people some of us voted into high office.
“We were just taking orders.”
Where have we heard that before, Nuremberg? It isn’t just this one life. We've already killed over a million people in our ill fated invasion of Iraq. Fog of War. We know better, everyone with eyes to see knows better, know it now. Then why are we still acting like criminals? No more lies. We are at war, a war with real enemies. We have so little; our short lives, our families and what we believe in...
...The only possible answer is that everyone involved in the trial of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a liar. Nothing else is possible. I know why they lied, they were ordered to “for the good of the service.” Was there something in the oath involving “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America unless told to lie for the good of the service?”
What are we protecting?
Once the public learns that we are buying phony terror suspects from the world's largest drug dealers, people we are protecting, people flooding our streets with narcotics, there might be problems. Best not let the public know why we never found those weapons of mass destruction, that yellow cake uranium, those mobile bio-weapons labs or why our continual search for Osama bin Laden keeps failing.
The deal of the century, destroying an innocent life and earning the hatred of a valued ally, all to stand behind the lies and rhetoric of America’s “dark age.” We would be lucky if it were only every citizen of Pakistan that was enraged at us for this travesty. It is worse, far worse.
Who are the real terrorists? In Pakistan, Admiral Sirohey, friend to half a dozen American Presidents is heading to a peaceful protest. What can we, Americans, claim? If kidnapping, torture, rape and covering it up by letting the victim rot in prison isn’t terrorism, I don’t know what is.
We should be thankful for that seat on the UN Security Council. We may need it for more than covering up for Israel. The next nation facing sanctions for international crimes may be us.
All that stands between us and being cut off from the world is our veto. All that is keeping an entire administration from War Crimes trials is the Bush administration's withdrawal from the International Criminal Court at the Hague.
Why is President Obama allowing the outrages of the Bush administration to continue?
